Bluebird Montessori opened its doors to its first students in September 2008. By the end of that first autumn, the classroom community had become ardently devoted to each other, laying the foundation of our “Children’s House.”

The larger Bluebird Community has been formed by a group of committed parents. Their commitment has helped to maintain a stable and happy community and a place where children want to be.

The organization was founded by Teri Therkelsen, Jennifer and Matt Traeger, and Jacquie and Ross Curtis. Originally located in the Curtis home, the school moved to its current location at 208 Jersey St. in 2009.

In September 2010, Bluebird Montessori became a Certified Family Childcare Center, regulated by the Child Care Division of Oregon.

By June 2011, the school celebrated a milestone by graduating its first group of “kindergarten” children, the very same children who started the classroom community in September 2008.
